Ian Coombes

A Local Man with Real Experience

Putting Totton First

My name is Ian Coombes. For more than 30 years I have lived and successfully run my own passenger transport business right here in Totton and the surrounding areas. I know our roads, our communities, and the daily challenges residents face.I have also been privileged to serve as a councillor on both Totton Town Council and New Forest District Council. That hands-on experience has shown me clearly how the current system is failing Totton residents.I’m standing as the Reform UK candidate because 7th May is the first step toward a better Totton and a better Britain.

The Major Challenge Facing Totton:
Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed Option 1A. Under this plan, Totton is being carved off from the New Forest and moved into a new South West Hampshire unitary authority dominated by Southampton and Eastleigh.

This is causing deep anger among residents. Totton is being separated from the New Forest identity we belong to and risks becoming a distant afterthought in a large urban-led council. Important decisions on housing, roads, flooding and services could drift even further away from local people.

While fully reversing LGR may be difficult, I will fight hard to:

  • Delay or stop  implementation where possible

  • Secure strong safeguards and protections for Totton

  • Push for transfer agreements that keep key services and real decision-making power local

My Priorities for Totton

  • Protect Totton’s Identity — Fight to keep our strong links with the New Forest and prevent us being treated as a Southampton suburb.

  • Fix the Basics — Tackle persistent flooding and drainage problems, repair our roads properly, and ease the heavy traffic congestion that affects daily life.

  • Housing for Local People — Stop overdevelopment and suburban sprawl. Prioritise genuinely affordable homes for Totton families and workers, not estates built for external demand.

  • Support Local Businesses — Back businesses that create jobs and keep money circulating in Totton.

  • Value for Money — Cut waste on consultants, DEI schemes and unrealistic net-zero targets so your council tax
    actually delivers visible improvements.

  • Families & Pensioners — Keep our schools free from liberal indoctrination and fully support Reform UK’s pledge to protect the Triple Lock on the state pension.

I’m not a career politician. I’m a local businessman who has created jobs, met payrolls week after week, and served as your councillor. I understand the real world and I’m ready to fight for Totton residents first — especially during this challenging period of Local Government Reorganisation.

If you want an experienced, no-nonsense councillor who will always put Totton first, I’d be honoured to have your support on 7th May.

Vote Ian Coombes – Reform UK Local First. Protect Totton. A Better Britain.
