Paul Barrett believes that good, old-fashioned family values are the nucleus of a strong and healthy society. Having served his country, he now wants to serve it again in local government.

His ethos is simple: you fight the good fight every morning you wake up. That fighting spirit is exactly what Waterside  needs right now especially given the pressure of Local Government Reorganisation.

Paul feels deeply about our local communities. The New Forest is a rural area with proud towns and villages that are at risk of being swallowed up by the extended urban council this Government is forcing through devolution and Local Government Reorganisation. We will demand rural protection and ensure our voice is heard. 
 

Paul’s Concerns and Priorities for our community are 
 

•  Rising Crime, Drugs and Woke Agendas — Paul is appalled by increasing crime levels, the spread of drugs, and the woke ideologies being pushed into our schools and communities. He believes we must reverse this trend now.
 

•  Out-of-Control Immigration — The Government has a moral duty to keep its own citizens safe and protect our borders. It has failed on both counts. Paul wants firm action to regain control.
 

•  Support for Veterans and the Retired Generation — Our local veterans and older residents deserve far better support and respect than they currently receive.
 

•  Southern Water Sewage Scandal — Raw sewage was spilled into the River Test 699 times in 2023 alone. This is unacceptable and must be stopped.
 

•  Protecting Our Farmers — The farming community needs real help with rural crime, soaring energy costs, and the challenge of feeding a growing population. As Paul says: “No farming, no food.”

Paul is clear: Reform UK is the only party prepared to put the “Great” back into Great Britain and stand up for Rural communities. 
 

He will fight to protect our rural way of life, stop our towns being absorbed into urban council priorities, defend family values, and put South Waterside residents first.
